Sunday we got up and rode with my grandparents to Crater Lake National Park! This was actually my first time seeing the lake even though I've lived close to it for my 22 years of life. Ok, I've been told I saw it as a child, but I don't remember it... The funny thing is, I also took a school trip there my sophomore year of high school, but the weather was so snowy and foggy that we couldn't actually see the lake even though we were standing right on the rim.
Today, however, was perfect puffy clouds, blue sky and sunshine; it was glorious. We walked around a bit, looked out over the impossibly blue water, read all of the informational boards and pictures about how the lake came to be and then made our way to the café where Em scored a tshirt and we all enjoyed a cup of hot chocolate.
After that we walked back outside and had a little picnic on the rim. Em played in the dirt and got her dropped cracker eaten by a bird, but not just any bird... It was a Clark's nutcracker, so I guess that counts as Clark being there with us today.. Well, not quite, but I'm trying to be positive here folks!
We then drove around the lake a ways and stopped to enjoy the various views and of course we documented it all with the photos you'll see at the end of this post. All in all, it was a great day and one for the memory books as some would say.
Here's some photos from the weekend for you to enjoy :)
